Ian Yasso's Portfolio

My name is Ian Yasso, a game design student at Clark University's Becker School of Design and Technology. I have worked on many different projects over the years including, games, 3d models, digital art, and even some physical props.

This journey has taken me from learning at summer camp, to getting to go to Stanford for three weeks, to getting games I have worked on shown at PAX East twice. The games that were shown at PAX were shown through the Clark University booth. They are called "Discolosseum" and "Sub-Machines: Totaly Tanktical". These games are in very different genres, but both allowed me to work on improving my design skills.

My work on "Discolosseum" was in my second year being at university. This game allowed me to explore production of games as well as the design of user interfaces. In my first semester of working on the game, I designed the first draft layout of the game board, card design, and main menu. In my second semester I took more of a managerial role. I was in charge of organizing the team of amazing artists to get assets for the game made. This included checking in on each of them every week and making sure that the sprint slides were completed for the entire group.

"Sub-Machines: Totaly Tanktical" allowed me to express my desire to work on the levels of a game. For the first semester of work on the game, I designed the first level we made and went on to work on at least five different iterations of that level. While I did that, I was also working on two other levels for the game. During the second semester I ended up having a bit of a leadership role again when a second person was added to the design team. This semester was full of setbacks for the two of us, but we still managed to ship the game with three functional levels.

I have always loved video games. When I was very young, some of my best memories came from playing video games and making stories in them. Ever since then, I have wanted to make games for other people to enjoy.
